This Weekend's REAL AMERICAN Beer Events & Socials
So much stuff going on over the next few days, but before that, a gentle nudge as we head into this Father’s Day weekend, where it’s possible someone might say something like, “Hey, did you hear that Hulk Hogan has a beer coming out? It’s been all over the news in the past few days!”
Premium Subscribers get to be able to say, “Man, I already heard about that way back on April 24th thanks to this cool beer email that I subscribe to.”
We don’t toot our own horn too much, but, y’know, beep beep.
Okay! Heck of a weekend for partying, wrestling, kolsching, and drag-show-ing at Chicago area breweries. I’m sure I didn’t spot everything but there’s still a whole bunch of…
This Weekend:
It’s a bit of a cruise for Chicagoans, but Waypost Brewing is hosting an evening of kolsch service in their beer garden tonight.
Head to Wolfden Brewing tomorrow for their WOLF-O-MANIA extravaganza with live professional wrestling as Joey “Jet” Avalon takes on the WBW Heavyweight Champion, The Russian Bear. C’mon, you can’t miss that.
Whiner Brewing is celebrating their eighth birthday on the 15th as well, hosting an afternoon market and a free evening drag show — plus their release of Le Tub.
Don’t forget that Maplewood’s also partying for their decade in business with a big ol’ celebration on June 15th at their Lounge.
Oh, wait - there’s more? Yes, also on the 15th you can head to Printers Row Brewing who is simultaneously celebrating their third birthday party, their 200th batch and their first double IPA.
We’re not done yet — you can also check out over 100 beers and ciders at the Craft Brews at Lincoln Park Zoo event taking place on the 15th as well.
And then on the 16th, don’t miss the 3rd annual Father’s Day pig roast, cohosted by Illuminated Brew Works.
Next Week & Beyond:
Werk Force is also partying for their decade in business, celebrating on June 19 if you happen to be out Plainfield way.
After that, Beermiscuous Lakeview is hosting a party for their tenth year in business on June 22nd.
Miskatonic is hosting a “90’s for the 9th” birthday party on June 29. Bitchin’.
Dovetail’s bringing back their tachinomi service and soba noodle demo on June 30th. (The latter is a ticketed event and sold out quick last time, but it looks like tickets are available at the moment.)
Also on the 30th, wrap up Pride Month with not one but two drag shows at Industry Ales - one at brunch and one in the evening going until 2am.
Way out on July 20th, Emmett’s West Dundee is celebrating their 25th birthday with, among other things, an adult big wheel race.
Way way out on July 27th, Rabid Brewing is already getting ready for their annual Feast of the Goat Queen, which, of course, will have baby goats.
Wow - that sure is a lot going on. Our Friday emails remain free and unrestricted thanks to the help of our Premium Subscribers, because we want to give you new reasons to visit a local brewery or beer festival each week.
If you want to help us spread the word about the cool beer stuff that catches our eye, we invite you to become an annual Premium Subscriber for just over $1 per week:

Just noting how pretty the Chicago River has become behind Off Color’s Mousetrap taproom.
Mikerphone shared an update on what BA options to expect at this summer’s Smells Like A Beer Fest. The “Softly Spoken Spirit” blend sounds insane.
Usually I’m sharing grain-and-malt-related posts from Sugar Creek Malt Company, but hot damn the pour off of their recently-refurbished decades-old beer pump is just gorgeous.
The new 4 Hands location in Kirkwood is now open.
If you’re heading north this summer, Hop Lot’s amazing beer garden is now open at noon every day.
More than a year after the project was first announced, it looks like (according to Leaders Beverage) that work on the second location for the Bad Apple is moving forward in Lincoln Park.
Revolution announced that they are now the official beer of the Pitchfork festival, taking that spot from their previous (and longtime) partner Goose Island.
Congrats to Wax Wings brewer Andrew Evans, who was the top American discus thrower at the recent New York Grand Prix, and moves on to the Olympic trials in Oregon at the end of the month.
The Beer Temple wants to buy your dad a beer. That’s nice of ‘em.
In a few months, Brothership Brewing will have both marzen and festbier on offer. That’s something to look forward to.
Crazy Llama Brewing Company, located in Roscoe (outside of Rockford), announced their closure as of today.
Kinda cool that Chipp Inn, opened in 1897, could have sold Seipp’s back when it was around the first time, as they pointed out this week.
I would have shared this Pollyanna post even without the beer name, just because it’s a hefeweizen, but it gives me the opportunity to type “Humpenscrump” and that’s just not something I’m willing to pass up.
Lake Effect would very much like your investment help to finish their taproom.
Take a trip through the four years it took Industry Ales to get up and running, in just 15 seconds.
Not often you see a brewery make the statement of “For the first time ever, our tanks are filled with classic styles.” High five, Foreign Exchange.
300,000 cu. ft. of cold storage space fits a lot of Lakefront Brewing beer.
I had forgotten that I used to call TC’s Silver Spruce “the Family Video brewery” but they certainly haven’t. Great lagers there, too.
