The New Illinois Beer Label of the Week:
At first glance, I thought for sure this was just a label for a contracted house beer for some Irish pub in the suburbs that I’d never heard of.
The address the label was filed under is the same one where Skeleton Key operates, but after some brief Googling, it does appear that Blume & Ferris Public House is actually working towards opening their own brewery and pub in Downers Grove!
Always fun to turn up a new future beermaker like this. There’s no specific address for the location posted to their page yet but per a comment on their IG feed, it’ll be “along Belmont Rd close to the train station.” Looks like that’ll put them in close proximity to Alter Brewing and the Bavarian Lodge, which is solid company to be in!
In addition to this new forthcoming brewery, we can also potentially add a new retail entrant to the shelf space:
When we spoke with Other Half COO Andrew Burman in December 2023, he told us that the Ramova brewery was primarily intended to be a brewpub and they had no plans to make any retail moves with the Chicago location. (“We don't want to compete on shelves” was the direct quote.)
The above labels posted to the TTB this week indicate that those plans may have changed a bit.
