A New Goose Island taproom is apparently now open…
… in Hong Kong. This spot hasn’t made it to the International Locations page on Goose’s website alongside Sao Paolo, Shanghai, Seoul and Toronto. That said, neither have the Dubai pubs either.
More info is here, including a detail about the “Brewmaster’s Choice Flight” which serves up twelve different beers for $298 in Hong Kong currency (about $38 USD).
Those beers include their flagship IPA, and a bunch that lean in on the Goose theme pretty heavy - Sober Goose, Duck Duck Goose, Thirsty Goose, Lead Goose and Goose 312 are all beers pictured on the menu on this site.
I’m personally most interested in seeing if the huggable human-sized goose mascot is going to ever make a trip to Chicago, assuming that this Goose HK Instagram post is showing something that actually exists:
Is there another Chicago-based food or beverage brand that has this international awareness? Are there international Portillos or Lou Malnatis or anything like that?
I’m not saying Goose is the cultural Chicago heir to Michael Jordan/Al Capone/Barack Obama or anything, and say what you will at this late date about how Goose is doing under InBev, but building a brand that spans the globe is one of the cool upsides (IMO) of an international beverage company acquisition.
