A few quick brewery status changes to report at the tail end of this Illinois Craft Beer Week:

First the bad news: FoGDB Darryl kindly informed us that after not being able to find a buyer, Bosacki’s Brewery in Mundelein closed at the end of April.

Now, an address change: We’ve moved Liquid Love to District Brewyards now that they’ve moved into their space.

Now, a product change: Much like Peckish Pig, another brewery has reportedly decided to not make beer anymore - but they are going to keep selling it. Thanks to everyone who sent us a heads up on this one: Evil Horse Brewing in Crete has been taken off the brewery list. They’ve apparently rebranded to Evil Horse Alehouse & Spirits, and their beer list is still pretty great, so we’ve moved them down the list to the section for beer-friendly bars and restaurants.

Finally, to wrap this up on a positive note, Foreign Exchange in downtown Aurora is opening their taproom doors this weekend! And if you want to get your hands on some of their beer ASAP, you can go grab a can or three of their Kittywampus imperial coffee porter from Orange & Brew.

Reminder: Only Premium Subscribers are being sent Wednesday label updates via email. Lite Subscribers can click here to see this week’s new Malort-barrel-aged beer label.

This Friday / Starting Friday:

Deep Wood Library Hours are open at Revolution Brewing. Even if you didn’t get one of their Deep Wood packages (which sold out in like, two hours) you can still stop by for a stacked taplist.

The Beer Temple is welcoming the farmhouse ales from Fair Isle to Chicagoland today.

If you want to order your beer the Indonesian way - over ice - Dovetail’s serving their helles bir es style today and tomorrow.

Heading to the D? It’s Zoo Brew in Detroit tonight.

This weekend, Sew Hop’d celebrates their 6th anniversary. (There are some rules.)

Today and tomorrow in Frankenmuth, the World Expo of Beer takes place, but with only 50-ish vendors, “World” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that event title.

Also this weekend: Indeed Brewing hosts their Whirlygig 2025 fest in Minneapolis.

Saturday, May 17:

It’s Dark Lord Day at 3 Floyds! Looks like tickets for Groups C and D are still available at the moment if you’ve got a couple hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket. (Beer on the Wall has shuttles available if you need a ride.)

Not going to DLD? Pale Pauper Day returns to Mikerphone this year as well. More about that here.

Goose Island Salt Shed is hosting their own Maifest today.

Bitter Pops hosts Pixel & Pals, a release party for Phase Three’s “worldwide” collab with Trillium, Omnipollo and North Park Beer Co.

Printers Row Brewing is throwing a Party Parrot Pergola Patio Party today with their new lime witbier on draft.

Today at Noon Whistle Naperville: PICKLEPALOOZA. Six different pickle beers. Crazy.

If you want to head all the way up to St. Cloud MN, they’ve got a Polka Party going on at Pantown Brewing that might be bigger than last summer’s Pickle Fest, per the owner. Could even be more fun than Dark Lord Day!

Sunday, May 18:

Go grab a beer somewhere and keep filling that passport. Or take a day off of drinking. You do you.

Next Week:

May 21: Bonsai & Brew visits the Off Color Mousetrap for a beginner workshop.

May 22: Stop by the BarleyHaus by Church Street for the seasonal opening of their Biergarten - now with new pergolas!

The event portion of our Friday emails remains free and unrestricted, because we want to give you a reason (or three) to visit a local brewery or beer event every week.

Our Social Updates section is now exclusively for Premium Subscribers. We’re extremely thankful for all your ongoing support. You keep these emails going.

  • This is definitely NSFW, but check out these new tap handles…
