Isn’t this email a day early? Yes, but…
Yes, usually the labels email is a Wednesday thing, but we have a bunch of new Bourbon County labels to discuss! I figured you wouldn’t mind moving this send date up a day.
FYI: All subscribers get a peek at this first one, but paid subscribers get to see every last dang one of these. Sign up to see four barrel-focused BCS variants and three more adjuncted variants — including this year’s Proprietor’s blend. And it’s a doozy.
Want to pull back the curtain? You know what to do:
Remember — just because these labels have been released absolutely does not mean these will be hitting shelves on Black Friday. Goose Island has submitted labels to the TTB in the past that never hit store shelves, so none of these beers are promised to us until we get the official lineup announcement.
With that said, here we go:
The New BCBS Beer Label Of The Week:
Gingerbread Stout.
I mean, this one seems like a no-brainer, right? I kinda can’t believe Goose hasn’t taken a swing at a Gingerbread Stout already. Perhaps last year’s biscotti stout inspired them to go deeper into the cookie aisle this year … or they’re just taking a page from Guinness’s barrel-aged gingerbread stout.
Either way, all of these adjuncts seem like natural flavor pairings for an imperial stout, even if it’s not also been aged in a bourbon barrel. If anything I could see the booziness overpowering the more low-key flavors like molasses and clove so you end up with a big ginger bomb — it’ll be fun to see how well Goose can walk this flavor tightrope.
