After a busy week, here’s some positive Chicagoland beer news from the past few days!

A new brand called Brutalist Brewing - aka “your favorite brewery’s favorite brewers” - came out of the box with a pretty impressive opening announcement for their first beers being released from Pilot Project. Love the attitude. This team wasn’t on my radar at all until a couple of weeks ago and now I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’ve got. (Premium Subscribers already saw a bit of news about this!)

I mentioned that Peckish Pig was no longer a beermaker in a recent email … well, many thanks to FoGDB Michael who clued me in on to the existence of Ekaloka Fermentory which I understand is working on setting up shop in Peckish Pig’s old brewing space. I’ve reached out for a little more info on what they’re doing - looks like anything and everything fermented is fair game, which is exciting.

…and finally, Black Lung Brewing announced the opening of a third location in Grayslake! They’re moving into the former Light the Lamp brewing space, apparently - happy to see some brewing life coming back to that location.

This Friday / Starting Friday:

This started last week but it’s very cool and it’s running through the rest of the month so I’m sharing again:

Links & Drinks is being hosted by Bubblehouse Brewing and a dozen total breweries are participating (including Soundgrowler, Brother Chimp and Sturdy Shelter). Everyone created their own special mini-golf hole at their brewery that guests can play; record a score at every hole (via a QR code) you’ll be entered into a raffle drawing for a bunch of cool stuff. Fun idea! Skeleton Key’s hole is “hauntingly challenging” which seems appropriate, while Blind Corner says theirs is “the toughest putt in golf.”

Industry Ales is celebrating their first anniversary all month long - tonight they’re releasing their Anniversary Ale and launching their Mill Room Speak Easy.

The Tinley Park Brew & Vine event kicks off tonight and carries through tomorrow. Looks like tickets are still available.

Also tonight: Orange & Brew welcomes Maui Brewing back to Chicagoland with a little shindig putting five of their beers on draft.

Saturday, April 12:

Happy 9th Anniversary to Arrowhead Ales - looks like a nice lineup at their party on Saturday.

Roaring Table hosts their very first Kolsch service night.

As if you needed another reason to pay a visit to the Brat Stop in Kenosha, the Dairy State Cheese and Beer fest takes place this afternoon.

Sunday, April 13:

Virtue Cider didn’t make a big deal out of it, but you can go celebrate their 14th birthday with them on Sunday with special pours of exclusive (usually club-only) ciders.

Next Week:

April 14: If you want to head to Milwaukee for $4 pours of Central Waters Throwback Lager for 4.14 Day, you can!

April 19: Kolsch Night returns to Dovetail.

April 19: The collaboration-centric Joint Beer Fest returns to Eagle Park Brewing in Milwaukee.

The event portion of our Friday emails remains free and unrestricted, because we want to give you a reason (or three) to visit a local brewery or beer event every week.

Our Social Updates section is now exclusively for Premium Subscribers. We’re extremely thankful for all your ongoing support. You keep these emails going.
