Beer Events and Socials: D and G Ends Its Tour

We’ve got a few closures to note at the top of this Friday’s email. Sadly, D and G Brewing has announced that they will soon be done:

After six years in business, the St. Charles brewery said this week that they’ll be shuttering when the taps run dry, which they estimate gives them less than a month for you to stop by one more time.

We also now know when On Tour will be ending their run:

They’ll host one last gathering this Tuesday and then close up shop in advance of Links Taproom & Brewery taking over their space.

And one more non-Chicagoland closing to note: Good Rich Brewing in Portland, Indiana announced that after five years in business, they are closing tomorrow night...but not before throwing a blowout closing bash.

Cheers, friends. It’s a very busy weekend out there in the beer world. Here’s what’s happening:

Reminder: Only Premium Subscribers are being sent Wednesday label updates via email. Lite Subscribers can click here to see a great Saison Day selection and the newest brand to potentially drop from Diageo. Check ‘em out.

This Friday / Starting Friday:

This year’s Beer Culture Summit is underway, and while tonight’s Four Star Mushroom Talk + Tour is sold out, the Earth Day party at Midwest Coast is still available, as are virtual events and tomorrow’s in-person gathering.

Tonight, .Industry Ales wraps up their month of anniversary celebrations with a special four course beer dinner.

In Madison, Working Draft’s 7th anniversary party is already underway.

If you happen to be in NYC tonight or tomorrow, Torst is hosting a special event with Scratch Brewing which should be worth stopping by.

Saturday, April 26:

Goose Island’s Stout Fest is back! They’re bringing it back to the Salt Shed Pub this year.

It’s also Saison Day at Off Color’s Mousetrap, which is opening an hour early to get the party started.

Long Grove’s Craft Beer Fest returns, as does the downtown Glen Ellyn Craft Beer Crawl.

Short’s Brewing is hosting a 21st birthday party for their Bellaire brewpub, and you know that party’s going to get crazy.

The Chicago Beer Society hosts Legends of Lager 2 across all three floors of Duneyrr Fermenta.

Taxman Brewing is hosting their eighth annual Death & Taxes festival today, including the release of “Deadline, a rich, roasted and robust Belgian-style stout aged with Indonesian vanilla beans and rested several months on Kentucky-whiskey barrels” and four of its variants.

Up in Wauwatosa, today is BockBierFest day.

Skeleton Key is hosting a Halfway to Halloween gathering, including a Haunted Night Market and a screening of Night of the Living Dead with a live soundtrack performance. Super cool.

…and even if you stay home today, you can still celebrate Beer Clean Glass Day.

Sunday, April 27:

April 27: Midwest Coast Brewing hosts a Volunteer Fair from noon to 4p “to join–connect with incredible Chicago organizations, meet rad people who care, and enjoy the beautiful Midwest Coast Brewing Co. taproom while doing it.”

Next Week:

May 1: Coming to Wild Onion Brewing in Lake Barrington: The beautifully named “Cheese in Concert.” Eight beer and cheese pairings also paired with music. Very into it.

May 1: Donate $50 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank and get a $50 gift card to 93 Octane. It’s like getting free beer for doing something good.

May 3: It wouldn’t be an IBW Lodge event if they just did yoga, right? No, of course they also are hosting a sound bath. Also, it’s “pentagram yoga".

The event portion of our Friday emails remains free and unrestricted, because we want to give you a reason (or three) to visit a local brewery or beer event every week.

Our Social Updates section is now exclusively for Premium Subscribers. We’re extremely thankful for all your ongoing support. You keep these emails going.

  • Per Pilot Project, their new Wrigleyville space should be ready to open…
