A few notable things as we head into the weekend…
We shared a few brief updates about this previously, but is/was brewing took to Reddit recently to confirm that they’re opening a taproom later this summer. That taproom will be located at 5121 N. Ravenswood, aka the former home of Urban Brew Labs and Metropolitan Brewing.
It’s only midsummer but we’re already thinking about Black Friday. Goose Island posted this teaser of a Bourbon County pour and Monday’s date. TBD on what will come of that, but we’ll update you on whatever happens!
Reminder: My birthday week Premium Subscriber discount celebration is still going on! Subscribe and save 20% off the normal rate just to celebrate me getting a little older! That’s like, 85 cents a week.
Last night’s birthday beers included a Gnosis Brewing Gnack lager, a Farm Club Schwarzbier and a Hop Butcher Grid IPA. All were delicious and facilitated celebration.
OK! Plenty more going on this weekend and beyond. Here’s what we’ve rounded up for this week:
This Weekend:
Need to get out of the city right now? Waypost Brewing Company is hosting a traditional kolsch service in their beer garden tonight from 4-9pm.
Watermark Brewing in SW Michigan is capping off a full week of anniversary events with a big party tomorrow, and then something that sounds real fun on Sunday: Balloon Animal Cleanup.
Imperial Oak Brookfield’s Beats & Brews festival takes place all weekend, starting this afternoon.
This year’s Ravenswood On Tap craft beer and music fest takes place tomorrow and Sunday, and the poster for this year’s event is awesome.
Goldfinger’s Fourth Lagerversary is running now through Sunday, featuring two cool collab beers (made with Live Oak & Bierstadt Lagerhaus).
Head to Emmett’s West Dundee tomorrow to celebrate their 25th birthday with, among other things, an adult big wheel race. Here’s the full beer list that’ll be pouring at the party.
If you want to be among the first to see is/was brewing’s new taproom, their Levain Day returns tomorrow, with space for just a dozen saison superfans. I just checked and there are just a few tickets remaining.
Next Week & Beyond:
Tickets are currently still available for the 5pm seating at the special Scratch Brewing dinner at The Beer Temple, featuring four collab beers.
Great Lakes is also hosting their Christmas Ale in July event starting at 11:30am on July 25.
Interested in conversations about meat snacks? You’ll want to attend Dovetail’s first annual Landjaeger & Treber-Fest on July 26th, which features a conversation with Jesse Brookstein, author of the extremely specific book A PERFECT PAIR: THE HISTORY OF LANDJAEGER IN GREEN COUNTY WISCONSIN.
The summer of Decade Celebrations continues! Congrats to our friends at ABV Chicago, who are hosting a 10th Anniversary Party at Beer on the Wall on Saturday, July 27th.
Also on July 27th, Rabid Brewing is hosting their annual Feast of the Goat Queen, which, of course, will have baby goats. Tickets are on sale and this post makes it look pretty fun.
Also also on the 27th, Iron & Glass Romeoville is hosting their third Lagerfest.
Man, the 27th is busy: Printers Row Brewing is also hosting a Summertime Block Party where they’ll release their first Pilsner and pour some hop water cocktails.
Then on the 28th, you can head to Broad Leaf Brewery in Grand Rapids for their 2nd annual Wiener Wars. Four chefs, four dogs, one wiener.
Like Jam Bands? Like craft beer? You’ll want to be at this year’s Dancing in the Streets event on Aug 2-4, hosted by the Chicago Brewing District.
On August 3rd, Liquid Love celebrates their 4th anniversary with (among other things) an Oktoberfest release? Sure, why not!
If you’re near O’Hare on August 3rd (or if you’re not), Mikerphone is hosting their Smells Like A Beer Fest with a whole bunch of cool breweries. And, uh…tattoos, too.
Good news from Spiteful Brewing: On August 16th, their Cheeseburger And a Pair of Dice event returns after a four-year hiatus! And for the first time ever, they’re hosting it at their space. Tickets go on sale soon.
August 17th sees the return of the Oak Park Microbrew Review, now in its 17th year.

Huge, huge thanks to our incredible Premium Subscribers for helping to keep this whole email series up and running for over a decade!
Those big storms around Chicagoland knocked down a tree and caused some damage at Soundgrowler but they were back up and running the next day.
Siciliano’s Market, an excellent homebrew store and bottleshop (among other things) on Grand Rapids’ west side, announced that they’d be moving locations later this year … to a space less than a mile and a half away.
The new Bad Apple in Lincoln Park, with 50 beers on tap and 135 in total, is now open! (They’re on the map.)
Smooj is shipping again. You’ve been warned.
These vintage-style vending machines for their Truth IPA from Rhinegeist look rad and I would love one for my garage. If anyone from Rhinegeist is reading, please remember that it’s still my birthday week.
Ever wonder where Industry Ales actually brews their beer? Right down here in the basement.
Waypost is more than just a brewery … right now they’re a u-pick blueberry farm too.
This short video announcing the return of GoneAway IPA is straight up the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen Half Acre produce.
What’s the city’s best brewery for beer nerds? Well, per Chicago Magazine, it’s Dovetail.
This strikes me as long overdue, but Off Color is finally producing a Beer For Superdawg.
Lagunitas gave their IPA branding a little glow up. Nothing dramatic; still looks pretty good.
It’s sadly no longer a Chicago brewery, but happy fifth anniversary to Keeping Together all the same.
Leaving a Cubs game? GoodTimes Brewery will sell you a beer for a penny if you show them your same-day ticket stub. Pretty sure that’s not legal, but I’m no narc.
