Can’t believe I’m saying this, but there’s … not a ton going on this weekend! (Just wait until you see the list of Oktoberfest events, though.)
It is, however, a great weekend to go out and find a new brewery, beer bar or bottleshop to visit. Take a look at our map, make a plan, and have a great Labor Day weekend.
And here’s a programming note you probably could have predicted: We’ll be taking the day off, so we won’t be sending our news roundup email on Monday.
Til then, it’s Miller time. See y’all later next week.
This Weekend:
Going on right now, through the beginning of September: The Inaugural Werk Force Brewing World Class Fishing Tournament.
Tomorrow, you can help One Trick Pony kill their kegs as they get ready to shutter their taproom. Their Final Be-IN Bash kicks off at 1pm.
Later This Month:
Head to Milwaukee on September 7th for this year’s Pilot Project Fest, featuring over two dozen beer and beverage makers.
If you want to drive even further than that on Sept. 7, the Michigan Brewers Guild hosts the UP Fall Beer Festival in Marquette, which honestly should be awesome.
Mark your calendar for September 18th, which is when Guinness Chicago finds out what a beer dinner would look like if it was hosted in 1910, which is when beers from Guinness first arrived in Chicago. A cool idea, and it’s hosted by the Beer Culture Center, too.
On September 21st, Illuminated Brew Works celebrates their 3rd anniversary at their Norwood Park location, so go celebrate with some tarot readings, a witchy collab release, metal bands, and more.
On September 28th, Midwest Coast turns five and will be partying accordingly.
Also on the 28th, Marz Brewing turns ten years old (!) and is hosting their Liquid Dreams festival at the Mothership.
Is your brewery, beer bar or bottleshop hosting an Oktoberfest celebration soon? Want to be added to the list we’re building? Email me and I’ll get you on there.

I didn’t know that Haymarket made a hop water, but now I do, and now so do you.
Wax Wings brewer Fabian Torres is apparently leaving the brewery soon to start his own place (called First Gen) so swing by and try these two cereal-ific Condor Valley variants he just put on.
Laschet’s Inn got a barrel of Rothaus Pils on draft a few days ago; guessing it’s gone by now but I know there are people that will want to know about this regardless. Good news: The Beer Temple just got a shipment as well.
Happy official ribbon cutting to is/was brewing.
It’s not until November but Right Bee Cider asks you to save the date for their 10-year anniversary party.
BiXi Brewing made the Owen & Engine “residency” on Mondays and Tuesdays permanent.
Alter Brewing officially announced their Rise & Brine IPA collab with Morton Salt, which we showed label lovers about a month ago.
Garage Band Brewing announced that they were “temporarily closed for restructuring,” whatever that means, and then they clarified that their temporarily closure is “to take a necessary break, restructure our management, and enhance our operations” and will announce a reopening date soon. They also didn’t appreciate the “unexpected negative feedback.”
Looks like Stockholm’s is making good progress in their post-fire renovations, and with help from their supporters, employees are still being paid while the business is closed.
Still no official opening date, but if Homewood Brewing Company is hiring staff, I bet it’s getting close.
Happy third birthday, Artesia Brewing.
Half Acre Second Setting heard you like hops in your weed so they put hops in their weed so you can have hops in your weed.
If you’re looking for Hop Butcher beers in Wisconsin, good news.
After a year of work on their expansion space, Goldfinger has the first batch of beer in their new tanks.
In Detroit, Eastern Market Brewing has plans to use their original brewhouse for a new wild sour program, so that’s exciting.
Cool new mural, Casa Humilde.
