93 Octane to Elmhurst? (Plus This Week's New Beer Labels)

Hi, friends! We’ve got some cool new labels for you to look at this week, but right up top, I have a quick followup to Monday’s email.

I had asked if anyone had intel on who was taking over Elmhurst Brewing Company, and got a lot of responses telling me that 93 Octane Brewing would be the new owners! I don’t see any official announcement yet, but they have added this Elmhurst-specific page on their website and even a new/updated address on their BeerAdvocate page.

So that appears to be one mystery solved! I’m also hearing about some potential movement in another west-suburban brewpub, but I’m still working on getting some more intel on that one. TBD there. Until then, here is…

The New Illinois Beer Label of the Week:

It’s been two and a half years since we saw a new package label come from Forbidden Root Chicago, and it looks like we’re getting a peek at a new brand standard from this very creative brewery. Historically, part owner Randy Mosher did a lot of the branding for FR (see his branding page here) but this looks like a fresh restart to me - how about you?

Up next for our Premium Subscribers: A couple of potential Props, a Barney Sue, a Grain Reaper, some tentacles, a shark and a couple of weird Wisconsin beers.

Premium Subscribers get access to all these labels plus exclusive posts, social updates on Friday, access to our back catalog and our gratitude for helping to keep these emails coming out.
