Two Taproom Closures Announced (Plus This Week's New Beer Labels)
Powered by GuysDrinkingBeer.com
Before we jump into the weekly label roundup, we have to acknowledge a couple of closure announcements that just hit the Chicagoland beer scene.
Yesterday afternoon, longtime Evanston brewer Temperance announced that their taproom would be closing on October 27. Temperance established itself early by taking home a GABF Silver for their Gatecrasher IPA in 2014, which went on to earn Gold in 2016.
They’ve also become known for their Might Meets Right series of stouts over the years (especially the cocktail-inspired variants) and they “are hopeful the brand will live on in a different form after [they] close. At this time, however, there are no details to share or promises to make.”
Also announcing a taproom closure is Hammond’s Foreign Local, which will be shuttering their Fayette Street space on November 30th. However, per their post, “This is NOT the end of Foreign Local and we will be announcing our new location and details very soon!”
The New Illinois Beer Label of the Week:
I always love it when a random label comes out from a brewery I don’t see often and isn’t one of the big, interstate distro players. JEDI BrewCo has been around for a minute and they work from Excel Brewing. Yeah, the name is kinda silly but there’s something charmingly guile-less about this label.
Plus, based on style alone you knew this was gonna hit your inbox.
