Breaking this afternoon: Goose Island just announced that we’re less than a month away from their new Salt Shed brewpub: The opening date is set for May 3rd
To the 34% of people who answered our poll in February saying yes, I think it’ll open this year, congratulations: You were right! One good poll deserves another, right?
April is a busy month, so let’s get straight to our…
First up: Tomorrow morning, The Beer Temple will sell tickets to this year’s Cantillon Zwanze Day. In-person ticket sales start at 10am, so grab a coffee and roll up early.
After that, you can head to Peckish Pig, who’s celebrating a 10-year anniversary on Saturday with a variety of throwback menu items, merch giveaways, and more.
Then it’s off to Geneva as Penrose celebrates their 10th Anniversary on Saturday as well. Tickets are available here. VIP tickets and higher add an hour of extra access to the fest beers, food from Craft Urban and a code for a free ride home from Lyft. Great idea!
On Sunday, Moor’s Brewing Company celebrates National Beer Day by hosting an Englewood history tour with Shermann “Dilla” Thomas on April 7. Attendees receive a beer mug and a poster along with the two-hour tour.
In Milwaukee on Sunday? Head to Best Place at the historic Pabst Brewery for Pour For Parks, featuring over 20 area breweries and hosted by MobCraft, all pouring to support the Friends of Humboldt Park.
If it’s been a while since your last visit to Monk’s Pub in the Loop, stop by next Thursday (the 11th) for a pour of Allagash White at their Drink Beer Save Animals event. $1 from every pour of Allagash will go towards Caring Animal Rescue, and Allagash is matching Monk’s donation.
Looking for something lager-focused towards the end of the month? How about this new Legends of Lager festival scheduled for the 27th at Duneyrr Fermenta in collaboration with the Chicago Beer Society? Sounds good to me.

In case you took a break from the internet on April Fools Day, here are a few of the funnier1 ones we spotted from around the Midwest:
The Cicerone Certification Program held a “beer quiz” to see if people could name the Zima Clear IPA.
On a similar note, Alarmist announced a “clear hazy IPA.”
Silver Spruce Brewing also announced their first hazy IPA, a triple made with 300 pounds of Goldfish crackers.
In the spirit of their Gummy line of beers, Noon Whistle announced a new layered beer jell-o release.
New from 1840 Brewing Co. in Wisconsin: Drinking Cheddar.
Another great product from a Wisconsin brewery: Third Space introduced Hard Milk.
New from Lakefront Brewing: The one-ounce can.
Old Bakery will be holding an “indoor totality eclipse party” where they just turn off all the lights for four minutes and 28 seconds. (Honestly this one would be fun if it were real.)
New from Church Street: Pierogi Porter!
On the flip side of the coin, Old Nation Brewing announced the return of their Orange Creamsicle M-43 and had to follow up to say no, it’s not a prank - this is real and it’s coming back. And then they sold out of it like, immediately.
Well, this is sweet (literally): Dovetail sent their new neighbors at Demo Brewing a cake on their opening day.
Good news, Iowa: Beer from War Pigs will soon hit store shelves in your fair state.
Happy 9th birthday to our friends at Hop Lot. See y’all soon, I’m sure.
Available now at Half Acre: Kernza Lager, made with a special perennial grain that helps improve soil quality and water retention.
The Milwaukee Brewing Company is coming back to Cream City: Eagle Park Brewing announced plans to open a new MKE Brewing taproom in Bayview, close to their original brewpub location.
Now available at Marz: Something called a matchalada.
Goldfinger’s expansion project grows ever closer to completion.
You’ll never be too far from your next smoked beer at Dovetail, since now they have a dedicated year-round draft line for grodziskie, rauchbier and all other smoky beverages they brew up.
Okay, we’re almost done with eclipse content but this poster from downstate IL’s Big Muddy Brewing is very fun.
If you want to try Windy, Old Irving Brewing’s light lager now that it’s back, you’ll have to head to the source (aka no distro).
If you want to drink craft beer at its source and play some video slots, good news: Will County Brewing’s Channahon location now has gaming.
To bookend this with a Goose post, their Reserve Vs Variant bracket to determine the top BCBS of all time is in Round 3. Fun stuff. (Check out the Cinderella story Northwoods is having.)
